ProtoConnex: DNP3Link Satellite Controller

DNP3Link is a satellite and GSM modem controller incorporating the DNP3.0 protocol which intelligently manages the communication link between Master stations and RTU's (Remote Terminal Units) allowing remote connectivity on existing DNP3 networks. With the satellite modem option, DNPLink allows remote connectivity to locations where no infrastructure exists or is too expensive to implement.

DNP3Link offers advanced diagnostic functions including SMS alarm notifications for several selectable parameters and thresholds (or any customised parameter). The diagnostic port (RS232) doubles up as a configuration port allowing users to configure every aspect of the device via a terminal application (OS independent) running on a PC or Mac.

Currently used by Eskom, South Africa's energy supplier and the World's third largest energy supplier, DNP3Link facilitates the control and monitoring of substations in remote locations of the country. DNP3Link can be configured with RP570 or other SCADA and proprietary protocols to provide similar connectivity to any location of the surface of the Earth.

DNP3Link is also compatible with GSM/GPRS modems where connectivity inside the GSM (cell phone) network is required.

DNP3Link supports other packet-based satellite technologies such as BGAN, allowing TCP/IP (internet based) connectivity to land and sea based equipment.

Embedded Ethernet

EtherConnex, based on Ethernut, is an embedded IEEE 802.3 compliant 10/100 Mbps Ethernet controller with on-board RJ45 connector. EtherConnex allows devices to connect to or be controlled over any existing Ethernet network. EtherConnex also supports an HTTP interface allowing embedded web server implementation with CGI functionality. Please contact us for further information on customised solutions.
