9601 SBD PowerTray
The
9601 SBD Power Tray
is specifically designed
to carry the Iridium 9601 Short Burst Data satellite transceiver. The
board contains everything needed (including on-board regulator) to
easily connect the 9601 transceiver to an RS232 DTE port using a
standard RS232 cable. Onboard LEDs allow the power status and
network availability to be observed at a glance. A toggle switch is
provided to control power to the unit.
The input voltage
can range from 6 to 50VDC, making it suitable for both aircraft and
vehicle systems.

9601 SBD Tracker

The DS9601G SBD controller is a low power
satellite linked GPS tracking solution for portable applications
including animal tracking, personnel tracking, cross-country
activities (flying, driving, etc.), adventure activities, asset
tracking, maritime applications and many others where the ability
to be tracked anywhere on the surface of the earth is required
(does not rely on GSM coverage). Being ultra-low power, it allows
several years of use from small, low-cost battery packs, opening
up a wide range of applications. For example, a typical personnel
tracking application using 2 lithium 5.8Ah C cells in series
(7.2V, 5,8Ah battery pack weighing just 102g), where 60 second fix
intervals are required, with a transmission occurring
simultaneously with the fix, would last approximately 100 hours of
continuous use (that’s over 6000 transmitted position fixes).
The controller is remotely configurable using commands sent by
email to the Iridium GSS which route via satellite to the Field
Application. In addition to sending GPS fixes, the controller is
able to store over 150,000 time-stamped GPS positions which can be
retrieved by connecting the controller to a PC if required. The
rate of satellite transmissions and rate of GPS fixes is
configurable (remotely and via a PC). The controller is equipped
with an Emergency switch which when closed, increases the update
rate (position fix and send) to every 60 seconds, and flags these
positions so that the monitoring party may take action if
necessary.
This is a full end-to-end system, which also
provides a web interface, allowing users to log in and view their
track data on Google Maps, in near real-time. A text-based (SMS-like)
communication function is also included in the system, allowing
field-based users to 'plug in' a PC/laptop and communicate, no
matter whether you're in the middle of the Sahara Desert, on top
of Mt. Everest or floating in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.

Daytona 9522 / 9522A
Interface Adaptor
The Daytona Interface Adaptor
connects directly to the DB25 port of the 9522 and 9522A Iridium
Satellite Modem and provides a standard 6mm 'power jack' interface
and a standard DB9 for RS232 communication. The Interface Adaptor
includes an efficient switch-mode power supply which regulates an
input voltage of between 6V and 50V DC to the 4.4VDC 2.5A required
by the modem. This solution is ideally suited to prototyping and
software development although it may also be used for production.
For larger volume or OEM-type modem controllers, the miniature
switch-mode power supply is available separately in a Dual Inline
